Austin, Texas, is one of the country’s very best music cities. The Dalles is not. No offense to The Dalles.
But in the case of Ghostwriter, chalk up a victory for The Dalles over the much-too-hot capital of Texas.
Ghostwriter was born Steve Schecter, but you won’t see Steve Saturday night at Silver Moon. You’ll see Ghostwriter, the self-proclaimed “original folk-punk troubadour” who plays ultra-minimal, backwoods folk music that sounds like the feral child of Tom Waits and Johnny Cash fronting a trash-blues band as grimy as the bathroom at some bar in Austin (or The Dalles, probably) at 2 a.m.
Ghostwriter, with We Are Brontosaurus ; 9 p.m. Saturday; $5; Silver Moon Brewing & Taproom, 24 N.W. Greenwood Ave., Bend.
